Jeff Ball

Advisory Board Member

Jeff Ball has been serving in an advisory capacity to Resonant since 2018. Mr. Ball serves as President and CEO of Visio Lending where he is responsible for setting Visio's overall strategy and direction. Prior to forming Visio Lending, he founded Visio's predecessor company, Econohomes. Mr. Ball previously served as the Global Head of Semiconductor Investment Banking at JP Morgan, where his clients included some of the largest technology companies in the world, including Intel and Texas Instruments.

Clint Brown

Advisory Board Member

Clint Brown served as Director of Business Development Mobility Wireless Connectivity at Broadcom. He has more than 30 years of experience in sales, business development and marketing experience, specializing in semiconductor-based wireline and wireless communication technologies, including 802.11 WLAN, Bluetooth, FM, GNSS, NFC, Wireless Charging, Ethernet, Home Phoneline Networking (HomePNA), and Analog Modems. Mr. Brown has also been a Wi-Fi Alliance Board Director since 2005 serving as Treasurer and Vice Chairman.

Rubén Caballero

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Caballero has been serving on Resonant’s Board and Advisory Board since 2019. Rubén is currently the Corporate VP of Engineering, Devices & Technology, in the Mixed Reality & AI Division at Microsoft. He previously served as Vice President of Engineering at Apple where he was one of the founding leaders of the iPhone hardware team and later expanded his role to include iPad, Apple Watch, Macintosh and all other hardware products.

Peter Gammel

Advisory Board Member

Peter Gammel has been serving on our Advisory Committee since February 2020. Mr. Gammel served as Chief Technology Officer for Skyworks Solutions, Inc. He joined the company in June 2011 as part of Skyworks' acquisition of SiGe Semiconductor. At SiGe, he served as chief technology officer and vice president of engineering. Prior to this, he was Vice President of Engineering at Renaissance Wireless and Chief Technology Officer at AdvanceNanotech and for Agere Systems' Analog Products Business. He was also a distinguished member of technical staff at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs.

Josh Jacobs

Josh Jacobs has been serving on our Board of Directors since 2018. Mr. Jacobs serves as an independent director of Maven, Inc., a business operations platform for professional internet publishers. He also serves as an independent board member at Invoca, Inc., a software company in the call intelligence market.

Luis Pineda

Advisory Board Member

Luis Pineda brings to Resonant more than 32 years of leadership experience in the semiconductor industry.  Mr. Pineda retired from a successful 18-year career at Qualcomm's multi-billion-dollar Semiconductor business. As a founding member of Qualcomm’s semiconductor business, he led product management, marketing, and business development through its early start to industry market share leader for mobile phones, tablets, and infrastructure.  Mr. Pineda is also an executive advisor for several high-tech companies both public and private. 

Glen Riley

Advisory Board Member

Glen Riley joined the Advisory Board in 2020.  Mr. Riley spent 15 years in several key executive positions at TriQuint Semiconductor, which merged with RFMD in 2015 to form Qorvo, Inc.  His last role at Qorvo was General Manager of the Filter Solutions Business Unit responsible for developing discrete and integrated module BAW and SAW devices for mobile phones.  He has over 32 years of experience in the semiconductor industry growing businesses in the RF, foundry, optical, and storage markets.  

Robert B. Hammond, PhD

Advisory Board Member and Head of Technical Committee

Dr. Hammond is Chief Technology Officer Emeritus of Resonant and has been an executive with the company since June 2013. Prior to founding Resonant, Dr. Hammond served for more than 20 years as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Superconductor Technologies, Inc., where he was involved in the development of high temperature superconducting materials, cryogenic refrigeration and packaging, and RF and microwave circuits. Prior to that, he was Leader Electronics Advanced Development at Los Alamos National Labs. Dr. Hammond holds a BS degree in Physics, an MS degree in Applied Physics and a PhD in Applied Physics, each from the California Institute of Technology.

Jianming Jin, PhD.

Technical Advisory Committee

Jian-Ming Jin received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1989. He joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1993 and is currently the Y. T. Lo Endowed Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the Electromagnetics Laboratory and Center for Computational Electromagnetics. He has authored and co-authored over 280 papers in refereed journals and 22 book chapters. He has also authored The Finite Element Method in Electromagnetics (Wiley, 1st edition 1993, 2nd edition 2002, 3rd edition 2014), Electromagnetic Analysis and Design in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CRC, 1998), Theory and Computation of Electromagnetic Fields (Wiley, 1st edition 2010, 2nd edition 2015), and co-authored Computation of Special Functions (Wiley, 1996), Fast and Efficient Algorithms in Computational Electromagnetics (Artech, 2001), and Finite Element Analysis of Antennas and Arrays (Wiley, 2008). His current research interests include computational electromagnetics, multi-physics modeling, scattering and antenna analysis, electromagnetic compatibility, high-frequency circuit modeling and analysis, bioelectromagnetics, and magnetic resonance imaging. He was elected by ISI as one of the world's most cited authors in 2002.

Dr. Jin is a Fellow of the IEEE (elected 2001), the Electromagnetics Academy, and Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES), and a member of URSI Commission B. He was a recipient of the 1994 National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award, the 1995 Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the 1999 ACES Valued Service Award, the 2014 ACES Technical Achievement Award, the 2015 IEEE AP-S Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award, the 2016 ACES Computational Electromagnetics Award, and the 2017 IEEE AP-S Harrington-Mittra Computational Electromagnetics Award. He also received the 1997 Xerox Junior Research Award and the 2000 Xerox Senior Research Award presented by the College of Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and was appointed as the first Henry Magnuski Outstanding Young Scholar in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1998 and later as a Sony Scholar in 2005. He was appointed as a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Air Force Research Laboratory in 1999 and was awarded Adjunct, Visiting, Guest, or Chair Professorship by 12 institutions around the world. His name appeared 26 times in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's List of Excellent Instructors. His students have won the best paper awards in IEEE 16th Topical Meeting on Electrical Performance of Electronic Packaging and 25th, 27th, 31st, and 32nd Annual Review of Progress in Applied Computational Electromagnetics. In 2015, he received the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Edward E. Altschuler AP-S Magazine Prize Paper Award and was appointed as the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Distinguished Lecturer.

Larry Larson, PhD.

Larry Larson is the Sorensen Family Dean of Engineering at Brown University and began his tenure as dean in July 2011.

During his tenure at Brown, he has overseen a significant expansion of the faculty and supported over $140 million in fundraising for the school, the design and construction of a new 80,000 square foot research building, substantial growth of the graduate program, creation of the Brown Design Workshop, and the expansion of entrepreneurship activities on campus.

Prior to this appointment, he was chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California–San Diego and was the inaugural holder of the Communications Industry Chair.

Larson received his BS from Cornell and PhD from UCLA. He has published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences and edited or co-authored three books. He holds 41 patents. He is an IEEE Fellow and co-winner of the 1996 Hughes Electronics Lawrence Hyland Patent Award and the IBM Microelectronics Excellence Award.

Raafat Mansour, PhD.

Technical Advisory Committee

Dr. Mansour joins Resonant’s Technical Advisory Committee with over 35 years of technical and management positions in complex RF filters and RF MEMS both in industry and academia. He is the Canada Research Chair in Micro-Nano Integrated RF Systems and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he is also the Founding Director of the Centre for Integrated RF Engineering (CIRFE). Dr. Mansour is an IEEE Fellow, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), and co-authored “Microwave Filters for Communication Systems: Fundamentals, Design, and Applications,” an in-depth look at the state-of-the-art in microwave filter design, implementation, and optimization. He co-founded two companies focused on the development of advanced microsystems: AdHawk Microsystems and ICSPI Corp. Dr. Mansour is credited with 37 U.S. and Canadian patents and has published over 350 papers.

Gabriel Rebeiz, PhD.

Technical Advisory Committee

Prof. Rebeiz is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), an IEEE Fellow, an NSF Presidential Young Investigator, an URSI Koga Gold Medal Recipient, the 2003 IEEE MTT (Microwave Theory and Techniques) Distinguished Young Engineer and is the recipient of the IEEE MTT 2000 Microwave Prize, the IEEE MTT 2010 Distinguished Educator Award and the 2011 IEEE AP (Antennas and Propagation) John D. Kraus Antenna Award. He also received the 1997-1998 Eta-Kappa-Nu Professor of the Year Award, the 1998 College of Engineering Teaching Award, and the 1998 Amoco Teaching Award given to the best undergraduate teacher at the University of Michigan, and the 2008 Teacher of the Year Award at the Jacobs School of Engineering, UCSD. His students have won a total of 20 best paper awards at IEEE MTT, RFIC and AP-S conferences. He has been an Associate Editor of IEEE MTT, and a Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE MTT, IEEE AP, and IEEE Solid-State Circuits Societies.

Prof. Rebeiz has mentored and supervised more than 100 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, has more than 500 IEEE publications, and currently leads a group of 21 Ph.D. students and Post-Doctoral Fellows in the area of mmWave silicon RFICs, tunable microwaves circuits, RF MEMS, planar mm-wave antennas and terahertz systems. He is the author of the best selling book "RF MEMS: Theory, Design and Technology, Wiley (2003)."
